This is a FREE chance for Critter Crew to meet with Critter Barn staff at Big Dutchman's headquarters in Holland. Big Dutchman, a global company established in West Michigan, will provide insights into their design of Poultry and Swine products and facilities. Their team will discuss the engineering and focus on animal wellbeing involved in developing these products.

Critter Barn is excited to announce that we will be organizing a special trip, booking a Coach bus to transport our group down to Fair Oaks, Indiana to experience The Dairy Adventure and The Pig Adventure, both located at Fair Oaks Farms! Each of these immersive experiences is designed to educate and entertain, allowing participants to ride a tour bus that will take us on a journey through real working farms. During this ride, we will have the opportunity to observe and learn about the daily operations involved in dairy farming and pig farming, gaining insights into the care and management of these animals. $60 for Critter Crew Members, $70 for parents or siblings. The cost includes your spot on the coach bus, and admission to Fair Oaks Farms. Parents are encouraged, but not required to attend. Critter Barn Staff will be attending.

This is a FREE chance for Critter Crew to meet staff from Dykhuis Farms at their headquarters in Hamilton. Dykhuis Farms is a leading pork producer in Michigan. They currently raise 19,000 sows and market approximately 450,000 pigs per year into the pork market. Their team will share the different career opportunities available in the pork industry along with personal stories, the challenges and rewards of farming, and the evolving role of agriculture in our world.

Join us for a fun and educational tour of Morren Bros Agri Service in Holland! On this tour, students will explore a working, full-service mill where they’ll discover how they create a variety of high-quality feeds and supplies for livestock and farms. Get an insider's look at the custom blending process, where different feed components are carefully combined to meet specific nutritional needs. Plus, you'll see firsthand how the feed is bagged and prepared for delivery.

Tuesday, July 8th @ 4:00pm - GE Whitetails LLC

Get ready for an exciting visit to GE Whitetails, a premier deer farm known for breeding top-genetic whitetail deer for high-fence hunting. Home to roughly 300 deer, this farm offers a unique look into the world of deer farming.
During the tour, we’ll learn about deer nutrition and management practices, and take a guided walk through the property to see firsthand what it takes to raise and care for these animals. Students will also meet some of the farm’s other friendly animals, including chickens, beef calves, and the lovable Highland cows: Custard, Lulu, and Brownie.

Join the Critter Crew for a fun visit to Crossroads Blueberry Farm! This local farm grows about a dozen different varieties of Michigan blueberries, each ripening at its own time throughout the summer season.
During our visit, we’ll learn how blueberries are grown, harvested, and sold. We’ll discover the difference between hand-picked berries (sold fresh in the market and to wholesale buyers) and machine-picked berries (which are frozen to enjoy year-round). The season runs from July through September, so we’ll get to see what’s happening on the farm during our trip.

Join the Critter Crew for a fun visit to Visser Farm’s Country Market! This family-run farm is known for its fresh, homegrown vegetables, U-pick strawberries, and beautiful flowers in season. You can find their produce at local farmer’s markets, restaurants, and right at their Country Market.
During our visit, we’ll explore the market, which is stocked with freshly harvested produce, homegrown meats, and Visser Farm apparel. We’ll learn how their products are grown, sold, and shared throughout the community—getting a firsthand look at what it takes to keep a local farm thriving year-round!
