Calves arrive at the Critter Barn farm from local dairy farms when they are two to four days old. Guests and students participate in bottle-feeding.

Young steers are easily handled and led for walks around the farm. Cattle teach about the amazing ability of ruminants to digest and utilize energy from grass, something humans are not capable of doing!

Critter Camp participants learn about the differences between 2 popular breeds in the United States: Holstein and Jersey. We raise Holstein calves on milk replacer and Jerseys on our extra goat milk. The steers are sold to make room for new calves and to supply a few friends of the farm with delicious meat!
