The Critter Barn goes beyond farm education and impacts lives in a unique way. We reach out to urban youth and offer scholarships through collaboration with donor organizations and individuals.

In 2008, due to the generosity of the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area, the John and Judy Spoelhof Foundation and Dr. Walter Rottschafer DPM PC, seventy children, age 8 to 16 years, are attending our summer Critter Camp class.

In 2009, area churches and the students of Crosscreek Charter Academy provided scholarships for children, and in 2010, a scholarship fund was started in memory of the founder's late father, Robert Vander Hooning.  We hope that support for children to attend our farm classes will continue to grow, so no child is denied that opportunity.
